One of Worthing’s most established Antique firms, Wilsons Antiques in Tarring has joined forces with The South Pacific Art Company (SPA) to launch an exhibition with a twist – the ‘Then and Now’ exhibition of Contemporary Art and Antiques.
The combined exhibition between The South Pacific Art Company and Wilsons Antiques starts this Saturday, 20th September, and will run until October 4th. It will be open daily from 10.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Saturday and 11.00am-3.00pm on Sundays and is being held at Wilsons Antiques gallery, 45 - 47 New Broadway, Tarring Road, Worthing , West Sussex BN11 4HS (free parking outside for an hour).
SPA Director, Angela Albiston, says “We’re very excited that such an established firm has joined with us in this exhibition. The South Pacific region is largely undiscovered for its Art over here in the UK. We will be exhibiting high quality pieces from across the culturally and artistically rich region. Our aim is to show how the contemporary art can blend with the traditional-style Antiques more commonly seen in places like Wilsons Antiques. We hope people will find the exhibition inspirational and give them ideas on how the two styles can work together with today's contemporary décor and lifestyle.”
Frank Wilson of Wilsons Antiques agrees, “When my father set up the company in 1936 he was forward thinking about Antiques and it’s this attitude that has made us a successful business for so many years. When the SPA approached me I saw the opportunity to not only be one of the first to access the pieces they had to offer but also to show how the Antiques trade can really work together with the contemporary art world.”
“We are even hoping to have a traditional Maori blessing at the exhibition preview on the Friday evening, so it will be something quite special for Worthing”, says Angela Albiston.
